Feda: The Emblem of Justice¶
super famicom · french · in development
A reverse of a reverse. FlashPV translated Feda into French on top of the English hack, ran into problems with the hack itself, and asked me for help. The French script exists; what's broken is the tooling underneath it.

What I'm doing¶
- Recovering the old DOS toolchain and running it headless in DOSBox-X, so I have an oracle: the ROM the original build produces.
- Disassembling the IPS patches back into a816 source, one at a time. Each one has to rebuild the oracle byte for byte before it replaces the old patch.
- Then fixing on top of a build I understand: French accents in the fonts, names and messages that overflowed their space, and kintsuki tests that check the text on screen.
I do the digging with Ghidra on the DOS executables and the usual tooling (a816, kintsuki), with an LLM as a second pair of hands.

Current state¶
The French script is in, built from source, with accents drawn and tested in-game on the intro and the first briefing. More of the game still needs playing through. No release yet.
